i searched everywhere and tried 5 other drivers before stumbling on this from http://web.archive.org/web/20080107041540/ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/joomla/index.php?/component/option,com_openwiki/Itemid,33/id,list_g-l/
the link to the drivers did not work, but google showed them at Gateway Support.
ndiswrapper -i bcmwl5.inf ndiswrapper -l ndiswrapper -m modprobe ndiswrapper
